Project Info:
Project Requirements:
Following the introduction of the new SAP management system for Physical Warehouse, Manufacturing, Quality, and MES through SAP MII (Greenfield Project), the client needed to implement a new authorization structure. The goal was to define a model meeting segregation of duties (SOD) requirements, compliant with SAP best practices and simplifying user profiling. In collaboration with DataNetwork, a methodological approach oriented toward standardization and sustainability was adopted, enhancing integration among different SAP components. The result was a coherent, scalable, and easily manageable application security model, capable of ensuring access governance in complex environments, optimizing processes, and reducing operational risks.
Approach:
Choosing DataNetwork as an SAP implementation partner, the client adopted a structured and collaborative approach to evolve application security management. After reviewing the new paradigm based on SAP EWM and MII, a clear and scalable authorization procedure was defined, carefully evaluating costs, solutions, and profiling models. The goal was to simplify access management and ensure greater operational efficiency. DataNetwork’s methodological experience, combined with project flexibility and ongoing dialogue with the client’s ICT team, resulted in a solution aligned with business needs, sustainable over time, and ready to support SAP system evolution.
Solution:
The client selected DataNetwork as a strategic partner to strengthen and optimize security management within the SAP environment. Together, a complete 'Authorization Concept' was defined as the basis for structured and controlled access management. Key processes for provisioning, user management, and emergency access were designed and implemented, significantly improving IT operational efficiency and promoting greater business awareness of application security topics. The introduction of a Job Roles organizational model notably reduced management efforts while ensuring compliance with quality and control standards. The project’s success stemmed from DataNetwork’s methodological approach: a mix of solid experience, listening skills, client-specific adaptation, and strong synergy with the internal ICT team. The result is a flexible, scalable solution focused on operational continuity, ensuring advanced and sustainable authorization management.
